________
Bravery Grows tells the story of a child struggling with anxiety and worry. While confident at home, her brave glow dims at school and in social situations.
With the support, love, and understanding of her parents, she learns strategies to overcome her anxiety and find her confidence again - one small step at a time.
Embedded throughout the story are tools and strategies used by the authors, two child psychologists, to help children overcome anxiety and worry. It provides a blueprint for raising resilient kids who are able to work through their emotions and step out of their comfort zone.
A reassuring and relatable picture book, Bravery Grows reminds children that they can do hard things; they’re just not there yet.
Recommended by the Selective Mutism Association and the Child Mind Institute.
Book reviews:
"Bravo to Dr Giglio and Ms. Geddes for capturing the roller coaster of emotions that defines the journey of living with a child anxiety problem, such as selective mutism, and working hard to overcome it. I can't wait to read this with my patients and in my camps." - Steven MS Kurtz, Ph.D., ABPP Clinical Psychologist, Mighty Mouths & Brave Buddies SM Programs Founder
"Bravery Grows should be on the bookshelf of every child with social anxiety looking to learn about anxiety symptoms and ways to strengthen their 'brave muscles'." - Dr. Jami Furr, Ph.D., Past-President Selective Mutism Association
"I read it to my 6 year old twin daughters with SM last night before bed. I think it really gave them encouragement because they hit a new milestone today with their brave talking! I own every storybook about SM and I have to say that yours is one of my favs" - Anonymous mother
